VRED Photo Features

Amongst the various features VRED Photo offers, some need to be especially highlighted because they are only offered by PI-VR's software packages in this specific way. VRED Photo brochure

Camera Module
Camera Module

Camera

The Camera Module which is integrated into VRED Photo allows you to set perspectives accurate to the millimeter, just like with real camera parameters. All camera positions including all lens parameters can be saved and invoked again at any time.

Certain camera effects like motion blur or depth of field can be activated and defined individually for every camera. The focus point can be fixed by a simple double-click at any point in the image.

Pressing the control key allows to switch between the standard cameras without activating the Camera Module.

Post Processing
Post Processing

Postprocessing

With the assistance of the Postprocessing Module, it is possible to add different postprocessing functions to a scene. Several possibilities are available to the user for colour corrections. Different parameters can be adapted individually like, for example, colour displacement, brightness, contrast and saturation.

Furthermore, the Postprocessing Module supports functions such as Dynamic Tone Mapping, which is used to reduce the contrast range in HDR images to be able to display them on conventional output devices. Further it contains a completely interactive histogram with which the colour distribution of a scene can be viewed as well as other functions like glow, glare and depth of field.

All effects are generated of course on a real-time basis.

Renderpasses
Renderpasses

Renderpasses

Renderpasses influence the performance of a data set during the render process. The Renderpasses Module integrated in VRED Photo supports all common passes (a total of 12 different passes). Every desired pass can be activated individually. The Renderpasses Module offers maximum flexibility for later procedures of post production.

Renderlayer
Renderlayer

Render Layer

The RenderLayer Module facilitates graphic subdivision of scenes into different render layers for the render process. The RenderLayer Module offers a multitude of options to divide a 3D environment into perfectly matching image planes while rendering. Hence it is possible to set up alpha channels interactively and to define attributes for reflectivity and refractions for every single object. Furthermore, shadow settings can be defined individually for every object.

The possibilities for the compilation of render layers acts as an ideal basis for perfect image composition in conjunction with post production.

Full Global Illumination
Full Global Illumination

Full Global Illumination

Global Illumination calculates all diffuse bounces in a scene. Besides sources of direct light in a HDR image, beams of light are also taken into account which, although coming from the same source, are reflected by the surfaces in the scene. This way physically correct visualisations of interior scenes (ambient lighting), tolerance (correct shadowing of joints) as well as of head lights and rear lights can be accomplished.

IES Lights
IES Lights

IES Lights

VRED Photo supports the international IES standard for  physically correct simulation of light profiles. By using IES lightsources, moods of light can be visualized even more authenticly. Different types of lightsources like light bulbs with different power specifications or halogen bulbs can be simulated with correct colours and correct intensity falloff.

Photon Mapping

Photon tracing offers the possibility to calculate indirect illumination and caustic effects especially for interiors. Caustics can be generated through any type of light source whicht is part of the scene.

Independent of number and kind of light sources in a scene, the overall performance and refresh rate is very high and the still antialiasing stays fast. Activating the final gather calculation additionally enhances the rendering, especially of interiors.

Object Lights

Object Lights

Beside the manifold light models supported by VRED Photo, object lightsources can be created. An illuminating behaviour can be assigned to any type of material. So the object ifself becomes a lightsource and lights its surrounding. The light colour and intensity can be variegated by texture.

HDR Light Studio

VRED Photo offers a new way to light scenes when licensing the optional HDR Light Studio plugin.

The user can now directly paint the HDRI and sees the results instantly.

Datapreparation
Datapreparation

Datapreparation

VRED Photo offers various tools to prepare datasets for rendering. Starting with the alignment of face-normals which can be adjusted in a highly automated way, up to Scenegraph optimizations which can remove redundant nodes to reduce scene complexity. The tool package allows users to organize and regroup data structures in the shortest possible amount of time. This makes it very easy to prepare the data for the access of single components and all areas of application.

The datapreparation tools in VRED Photo start with the support of special rendermodes which allow to verify the aligment and quality of surfaces and end up in various tools which allow to select whole assembly parts consisting of single surfaces when they positioned seamlessly.

With VRED Photo Datapreparation, the process of preparing complex datasets can be done in shortest possible time frames and leaves more time for esthetic adjustment.

Sequencer
Sequencer

Sequencer

The Sequencer is a versatile tool which helps the complicated batch processing to be organized and executed sequentially. It is thus possible, for example, to initiate several rendering modes with completely different settings in a row without exiting the program. This, in conjunction with the ClipMaker, makes an ingenious authoring tool available for the user. Every functionality, whether previously defined or already available in VRED Photo, such as activation of render layers or VariantSets, can be triggered through the Sequencer. Target directories and environment variables can be fixed in the Sequencer. For more complicated processes, single sequences of animation clips can be executed in ClipMaker, which in turn triggers batch processes in other sequences created.

Nonlinear Animation
Nonlinear Animation

Nonlinear Animation

The animation package in VRED Photo provides everything required for the compilation of impressive motion sequences. Settings of every single object can be changed over time and therefore defined states can be set at certain times. Motion sequences can be generated for single objects and saved in huge numbers to invoke them at a later time.

In ClipMaker, the authoring system in VRED Photo, single animation clips can be moved interactively on the time axis or resorted, as well as be added to other geometries or geometry groups simply by drag and drop, in order to define the desired composition. It is possible to zoom in or out of animation curves in the CurveEditor or to slide sideways on the x- and y-axes  for evaluating special areas of the animation curve in detail or to see all related animations at once.

Camera effects caused by object movements such as motion blur can be specified globally for the whole scenario as well as individually for single objects.

Rendermodes
Rendermodes

Rendermodes

VRED Professional and VRED Photo are software packages, which are capable to display completely different render modes in the same level of quality with synchronized shading parameters and with the same look.

VRED Professional and VRED Photo allow to switch between OpenGL and raytracing rendering by just pressing a single button and offering nearly identical render quality whithout any modifications of the scene or shaders.

Even in raytracing it is possible to switch between various modes starting with Precomputed Illumination up to Full Global Illumination without the need to change any scene parameters.

Material Library
Material Library

Material Library

VRED Photo comes with an extensive material library which is already integrated into the software. It is a predefined shader based material library that includes a range og paints, metals carbon and platic materials, as well as predefined materials like woods, leather or liquids. Selected materials can be defined as light emitters, so objects appear as a light sources. The light structure can be changed due to textures, shape and intensity.

New material libraries can be implemented as required. Existing material libraries can be edited and exported. Material libraries can be made accessible on the network to all users. New predefined materials can easily be selected and added to the existing menu. Once added, libraries are displayed automatically in the menu.
