Interview with the photographer Michael Korte

About Michael Korte

Michael Korte ist a very experienced photographer and CGI-artist who is skilled with the handling of the most popular 3D-software packages. He is born and still lives in Hamburg, Germany's media capital. Independently from his home and work base he flies to the most isolated places in the world to shoot the most beautiful HDR-image or the perfect backplate. He has a long list of clients, so working effectively is a must to him - one reason for VRED. What he likes about VRED and where he sees its central benefit he tells us personally in the interview.

Mr. Korte, you are long experienced in the field of product photography. How did things change here from your point of view?

The production of CG-images, especially in the field of automotive industry, has been taken over more and more by bigger firms. Today, it is not only the expert (I number myself to be among these) works on a motif, but many people do. That way situations occur, where declaration and quality of the motif are, in the end, just the sum of the lowest common denominator of all parties. Which is not always the best.

When and how were you confronted with VRED for the first time?

2008, looking for a programme that renders the usually baleful long render times of other, established 3D Software, unnecessary. I was confronted with the decision of giving up 3D completely, because I was competing (and I still do compete) with way bigger 3D producers. When I discovered VRED, I could save on buying cluster installations, because VRED is a realtime rendering programme.

While marketingbudgets are constantly cut down, the expectance of the clients constantly rises. New techniques for producing graphical material is required. What role das VRED play in this context?

VRED enables me to create intuitive imagery. But the main advantage of VRED lies in its rapidness and the high quality output of the renderings. That way adjustments can be made, so to say  "on the fly" and the limit of the so called Point Of No Return while creating the CGI motif can be set back pretty much. Furthermore, it is now possible to convert CAD>Mesh data very quickly. I stay on a competitive basis, because working time gets noteably shorter.

Why, or rather in which areas do you think VRED is a helpful assistance while producing high quality graphical material?

Anywhere!

Thus, which are the main advantages of VRED?

Uuh.... just read the website from PI-VR. Most of it is correct!

Inhowfar does VRED support you while creating innovative designs for your clients?

Anywhere.

Thank you for the interview.
